ABOUT THE LAB
Dr. Clawson, who is trained as a pediatric psychologist, is an Assistant Professor at the Center for the Study of Tobacco
in the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education in the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
Her research program is dedicated to promoting health equity for all children and families. Her laboratory values diversity and inclusivity, and strives to help all families have the opportunities for optimal health.
Overall, her research program utilizes a social ecological approach to identify tobacco-related inequities and reduce active and passive tobacco and nicotine exposure among children and families, with a specific focus on historically marginalized families and youth with medical conditions (e.g., youth with asthma). She also conducts research on behavioral and psychosocial functioning among youth with medical conditions and their families, including research related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The overarching objective of her research program is to promote health equity across the lifespan and across generations.

Dr. Clawson, who is trained as a pediatric psychologist, is an Assistant Professor at the Center for the Study of Tobacco in the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education in the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Her research investigates factors that impact child and family health, especially among underserved families, and how to best promote health equity for all families.
